About Me
Hi, I’m Juhi Upreti – an artist, a lifelong learner, and someone deeply moved by the stories that traditional art and textiles carry across time.
Although I never had formal training in art, creativity has always found its way into my life. My academic background in Textiles and Apparel science allowed me to understand design, patterns and cultural symbolism in a meaningful way. The motifs and techniques found in traditional textiles– whether from India or other parts of the world—sparked a curiosity in me that naturally evolved into drawing, pattern-building, and finally a dedicated art practice.
My work is heavily inspired by Indian tribal and folk-art forms. These traditions hold a language of their own, rooted in storytelling, ritual, community and celebration. I love weaving elements of these visual traditions into my own contemporary interpretations, creating pieces that feel familiar yet new.
Art for me, is equal parts instinct and exploration. I allow patterns to emerge and evolve, and this intuitive process is deeply meditative, bringing me closer to culture, memory and meaning.
As I continue to learn and grow, my hope is to create work that resonates with people from all backgrounds – inviting them to pause, look closer, and connect with the stories and heritage embedded in every line and motif.
Thank you for taking the time to know my journey. I’m grateful to share it with you.
